TE Connectivity
TE Connectivity is an Irish-based company specializing in the design and manufacturing of electrical and electronic components across various industries, including automotive, aerospace, defence, medical, and energy.
Founded in 1941 as Aircraft and Marine Products (AMP), the company initially produced solderless electrical connections for aircraft and ships, offering quick and removable wire connections. Following the economic shifts after World War II, the company rebranded as AMP Incorporated in 1956. In 1999, AMP was acquired by Tyco International.
In July 2007, Tyco International separated into three publicly traded companies: Covidien Ltd, Tyco Electronics Ltd, and Tyco International Ltd. By March 2011, Tyco Electronics Ltd rebranded as TE Connectivity Ltd., reflecting its focus on connectivity and sensor solutions.
TE Connectivity serves the commercial aerospace industry through every phase, from aircraft design to aftermarket support. The company's defence products include durable electronic interconnects for military aviation, marine, and ground vehicles, as well as electronic warfare and space systems. It also provides relays and contactors for both commercial and defence aerospace markets. In the oil and gas sector, TE offers subsea cables and electronics for offshore environments, as well as sonar and shipboard applications.
